4th and 5th June - Off The Beach Series Final & Optimist Future Cup June
by Chris Dando

Saturday and Sunday saw the last rounds for the 2011 Off The Beach Series. Although winds were light on Saturday the racing was close with both multihulls and monohulls competing round the buoys. Sunday saw some classic great Varuna weather -- sunshine and a good breeze. Only the monohulls managed to put a fleet together, but were rewarded with some excellent sailing.

Overall Gareth just managed to take the monohull series in the final races from Chris, with Charlie making third. Good results and consistancy gave Arend the multihull win, with the Nacra 16 squares of Simon and Frank finishing in second and third repectively.

The Optimists sailed 10 races over the 2 days for their June Future Cup event. Although he had a slow start in the first 2 races, Lorenzo showed great speed in the following 8 to take his overall win. Som-O chased hard but was just beaten by 2 points after a hard fought series with Tann in 3rd.

28st and 29th May - Firebird Prince Bira Trophy
by Chris Dando

Both the multihull and monohull fleets set off in a moderate breeze for the long distance race on Saturday. The multihulls sailing up and around Koh Rang Kwian and the south mark, the monohulls racing around the west mark and Koh Chun. The breeze filled in and some excellent sailing was experienced by all. It eventually taking 3 hours for all the multihulls to finish while the monohulls were back ahore and enjoying refreshments in just 1.5 hours! The Optimists started their own racing around the buoys and managed to complete 4 races.

On Sunday, all classes raced round the buoys to complete the series for the Firebird - Prince Bira Trophy. Unfortunately the wind failed to fill in with any strength and all races were sailed in a very light breeze with a very influental tide. In the multihulls, consistant sailing and results gave Stefaan the overall win from Morton and Alex. In the monohulls Gareth recovered from a 3rd in the second race to win the final race convincingly and take the series overall from Chris. Leigh returned to show his ability in the light winds by finishing second in both races on Sunday to finish third overall.

The Optimists completed 2 further races after some additional coaching in the morning. The first 3 sailed very consistantly in the tricky conditions with Bjarne winning followed by Alex in second and Som-O in third.

Overall some good racing and sailing despite the light winds!

5th, 7th and 8th May - Hobie 16 Nationals & F18 Open 2011
by Chris Dando

Entries from Australia, Fiji, and Hong Kong joined the strong local fleet for the 2011 Hobie 16 Nationals and F18 Open Championships at Varuna. Conditions over the 3 days sailing varied from a battle to find wind to a strong storm.

On Thursday, the first race was sailed in a good breeze. Khun Damrongsak started as he meant to contiue by winning the first 2 races. Also from Thailand, Khun Teerapong started the series well with places of 2, 3, 1 on the first day. The wind steadily dropped during the day but 3 good races were completed.

On Saturday excellent sailing conditions greeted the fleet as they prepared for the early start. 2 races were sailed with again Damrongsak showing the way in the Hobie 16 fleet. Jason Waterhouse for Australia was starting to show his clear ability with a 3rd and 2nd. The fleet came ashore for lunch. Unfortunately the wind also seemed to want a break as well. As the boats started the 3rd race of the day, it was a fight upwind against a strong tide with the wind being very patchy. There were big gains and loses around the course with boats searching for that elusive gust. Jason again managed to make the right decisions to win. Luckily the wind returned for the final race of the day, and Tong Shing from Hong Kong started to step up his game with a win from Damrungsak in 2nd. The F18's joined in the racing for a Sat & Sun regatta, with Gary Baguley just emerging the overnight leader from Morten Jakobsen and Stefan de Vos.

The final day dawned with a good breeze but the clouds were building ominously. Both fleets got in 3 races in excellent sailing conditions. Damrongsak continued his domination of the Hobie 16's with Jason and Tong Shing close behind. The storm hit in the 4th race of the day as the leaders were approaching the windward mark for the last time. The wind picked up to 25 knots plus with heavy rain. Many boats capsized but out of the 9 starters in the race, 7 managed to finish with only one boat dismasted and having to be towed ashore. Graham Southwick from Fiji showed his experience in survival conditions to win the race with Jason and Tong Shing chasing him home. The F18's saw the storm approaching and only Stefan decided to stay out, the rest headed for the shore and safety! However overall Gary was able to extend his lead with Stefan following him home in 2nd place.

16th and 17th April - Spring Series Part 2/Final
by Chris Dando

Varuna was back at its best on Saturday with sunshine and a great wind for the final 2 days of the Spring Series. The monohull fleet was boosted on Saturday by 2 of the new Visions, and also by Chris who has joined with his OK. Morten showed that the new boats are very competitive in a good wind and won 2 out of the 3 races on Saturday, with Charlie managing to save some face for the Lasers by winning the other. On Sunday the breeze was a little lighter and Chris showed a clean pair of heels to the fleet in the first 2 races. However the last was extremely competitive with the mark roundings getting a little crowded at times!. However Chris managed to just win to finish the series in first place. Charlie was second overall and a great performance by Jimmy to take 3rd.

The multihulls only managed to race on Saturday and with many people away and for some reason avoiding the local water festivities! The spoils in the 3 races sailed were evenly shared between 3 boats, so the final race was all important. Congratulations to Alberto who won overall followed by Steve and Junior.

9th and 10th April - Spring Series Part 1
by Chris Dando

A very quiet weekend at the club probably because of the weather which looked very uninviting on Saturday. With the potential of a storm and wind that was shifting everywhere, racing was posponed until Sunday. Luckily the wind eventually arrived on Sunday morning, and 3 monohull races were sailed in a nice breeze, finishing just before the rain came again.

26th and 27th March - 2011 Hyland Challenge Trophy
by Chris Dando

Despite the unseasonal weather there were good turnouts in all 3 fleets for the Hyland Challenge Trophy. On Saturday it looked like a search for wind but by the time of the start, the breeze had kicked in and 3 good races round the buoys were held for both multihull and monohull fleets. The Optimist, sailing their own course managed to top that with 5 races! The conditions obviously suited Saranya as she swept to 3 wins in the multihull class in her Infusion. The monohull fleets was hotly contested with some very close races and many place changes. Gareth eventually being the overnight leader. In the Optimists, the short races gave many sailors the chance to shine. However in the second race several boats were over the start line and failed to return including the hot favorite, Dylan!

Sunday was dull and overcats yet there was wind! However it was tricky with many gusts and holes, and significant shifts. A second place in the long distance multhull race was enough to seal vistory for Saranya. In the monohulls Neil's consistancy with a further 2 wins and a second was just enough to overtake Gareth for the win. Dylan continued his good form and won the Optimists, but Bjarne and Alex had a tough battle for second and third. Bjarne won the final race and with Alex in third, he managed to secure second position from Alex by one point overall.

5th and 6th March - 2011 Multihull 100 Challenge
by Chris Dando

Close racing was the order of the weekend for the Multihull 100 Challenge over the weekend of 5th & 6th March. On Saturday the wind was from the north-west which is unusual at this time of year. The skies remained overcast but the rain held off and the wind remained steady enough, although light, to get 3 good races completed. The day ended with different winners in each race and a 3 way tie on points at the head of the results between Morten, Pom and Gary.
The sun broke through on Sunday morning and with the wind back to from the south-west, conditions looked good. The first race was away on time in a light wind, and had to be shortened at the end of the first lap. Our race officers got it right but at least one boat was confused as to the finish line and lost out by taking a slight detour before finishing correctly! With a first and a second in the first 2 races on Sunday, Pom was in the driving seat going into the final race. However both Gary and Morten were close enough behind to still pose a threat. At the start Pom was all over Gary with both boats a little late over the line. With Gary down the fleet, Pom sailed fast -- not only managing to overtake Morten but coming home in first place to win the series with style!

19/20th February - Speakerbus Challenge
by Chris Dando

Over 30 boats turned out for the Speakerbus Challenge over the weekend of 20th and 21st February. Committee boat starts for both the monohulls and multihulls gave some excellent courses and some really tough racing in both fleets. The Optimists sailed their own regatta on a separate course.

The competition in the multihull class was again dominated by the F18's. Over the weekend there were 4 different race winners. While Saturday's racing was fairly straightforward, on Sunday the stronger conditions and tricky waves led to several teams suffering damage including the overnight leader Saranya. Morten almost won, but in his own words 'within sight of the finish line, he managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of certain victory'. His excuse was that a bag wrapped itself round the foils (it couldn't have been the one that Stefan was using for his packed lunch could it?). Anyway after some very close racing, it was Stefan who managed to win by on point from Morten, with Chris and our sponsor Dave taking the bronze position.

In the monohull class, there was probably even closer racing. In the second race on Saturday, 5 boats crossed the finish line within 16 seconds with the placings changing constantly down the final run to the finish. Neil sailed consistantly fast to win overall. However second place was open until the last race. Gareth's tactic of missing the first race on Sunday morning, and loading up with extra fuel to combat the increasing wind, paid off as he was able to power himself to 2 wins in the last 2 races to snatch second place on count back from Peter.

It was also great to see the Optimists joining in the regatta. They managed to sail 7 races on their own course. Bjarne showed his future potential by winning in style with 7 first places. He was followed home by Alex in second place overall and Kim in third.

Many thanks from all the sailors to Dave Littlejohn and Speakerbus for sponsoring a great weekend both on and off the water!

18th February - New Olympic Series Final
by Chris Dando

The final races of the New Olypic Series were sailed in a great breeze on Friday 18th. 3 races were sailed in both monohull and multihull fleets. In the monohulls, Neil rounded off a good series with 3 back to back wins even though there was a little drama in the last race as the fleet displayed its lack of spacial awareness by rounding the wrong windward mark on the last round. However all boats did eventually go round the correct mark to complete the course. Chris and Charlie finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively
In the multihulls, consistancy paid off with Stefan again showing the way round. Dan yet again sailed well in his Nacra 5.5 to finish second and Yves rounded off a good series to finish 3rd.

29/30th January - Matchrace Thailand Cup IV (Grade 5)
by Till Ahnert

The fourth Thailand Matchrace Cup was a great success due to good wind and perfect organization, which this time was organized by Varuna in cooperation with the club Match Racers.
Despite a forecast that called for medium wind at the weekend, conditions at Matchrace Thailand Cup IV could not have been better allowing for 12 flights of racing. Planned as the qualifier event for the National Match Race Championship in March 18-20, 2011, three local teams and a Singaporean team seized the chance to step in.

Saturday: With about 10 knots of wind the early races were fast and enthusiastic by each team. The Eriksson team won every match due to their good boat handling and great pre-start tactics. The Singaporean team, including SuAn Koh and Jameson from Thailand, were getting better and better each match. The great surprise of the day was the strong performance of Gareth Owen and its team (Kevin Scott, Chris Dando and Trent Pedersen). Beating the well experienced team Jakobsen in the first round robin and getting very close to team Eriksson on the beat was more than good luck. Once again Gareth showed his great sailing skills.
Sunday brought similar winds and a sunny sky. At 9:30 am racing got underway with the final three races of the round robins. Erikson went undefeated in the 1st and 2nd round robins securing themselves an automatic berth to the finals. Racing on the second day was much more aggressive than the first and the umpire team was called on more times to deal out penalties. The format now moved onto the finals stage with the first and second, and the third and fourth ranked teams fighting for their final positions.
In the bronze final, Team Jakobsen lost against Maximilian Soh , which they had beaten before in the round robins.
For the gold final, the last three final matches for the first rank were tighter than all matches before. Erikson won the first race with a minimal winning margin against Gareth. Gareth didn't give up and won the second race, the first loss for team Erikson during the whole event. Last and crucial race Team Erikson was leading out of the pre-start but lost distance upwind. Already with a penalty against them, Team Owen got closer especially at the top mark rounding. On the second beat Eriksson squeezed himself into the leading position at the top mark, but received a penalty also due to a port/ starboard infringement. Finally with half a boat length advantage Erikson won the final match across the line.

16th January - Great Laser Island Race
by Chris Dando

The 28th Great Laser Island Race saw 7 competitors set off to sail the classic course around Koh Larn. The early morning winds had abated somewhat by the time of the start giving some teating tactical conditions. As is the norm, the boats were started at 30 second intervals from the beach. With the wind coming from the North, this led to the fleet bunching up together quite quickly as the experts found the breeze more quickly. Also it was interesting to see everyone's start technique as there was a lot to gain and lose directly from the beach!
Gareth sailed well to retain his title from last year, followed home after a long race by Charlie and then a great sail by Leigh to finish third.

15th January - Varuna Handicap
by Chris Dando

Good fleets were the order of the day for the Varuna Handicap on Saturday. 10 catamarans and 9 monohulls set out round the course of Koh Chun, the West mark, a buoy to the south of the club and finally back through the start-finish line.
In the monohull class, the RS 700 and RS 100 showed the way round. However they slipped back down the order on corrected time and it was left to the Lasers to take the prizes. Neil came home first with a comfortable 1 minute lead, followed by Morten and then Gareth.

The catamarans sailed 2 laps of the course, unfortunately 2 failed to go through the start-finish gate at the end of the first lap. Conditions seemed suited for all and gave some close finishes after the handicaps were applied, with Bob in his Hobie 16 coming home in first position. He was followed by Stefan in his Nacra Infusion F18, and then by Andy in his Hobie Tiger F18.

8/9th January - New Olympic Series - Part 1
by Chris Dando

Saturday saw some Varuna at it's best - 10-14 knots of wind and excellent conditions for racing round the buoys. Both multihull and monohull classes had 3 races with the Olympic trapezoid adding a change to the normal courses. Sunday provided a change to the wind with generally light and shifty winds, the breeze only finally increasing and settling towards the end of the racing.
The monohulls managed 3 races both days and had some excellent competitive racing especially amongst the Lasers. 3 different race winners (Gareth, Neil, and Charlie), but at the end of the weekend, although Neil was leading overall, Marcel and Chris filled the next 2 places showing how tight the scores were. However most of the fleet showed that their navigation skills could be improved in the first race on Sunday when there were several mistakes in heading for wrong marks!

The short courses for the multihulls on Saturday proved a challenge to everyone's boat handling - quick spinnaker hoists and smart manoeuvring being the key to success. To lengthen the course on Sunday, a separate mark was put in for the fleet. Unfortunately the wind failed to co-operate fully, and the first race was quite a marathon! Just one final race was completed to finish off the weekend. Stefaan showed his usual speed and consistancy to lead overall, followed by Dan who showed that you don't always need the latest boat to do well.

26 December - Rinze Yetsenga 4-Islands Challenge
by Chris Dando

There was just enough wind on Sunday for the catamarans to be sent off on the Rinze Yetsenga 4 Islands Challenge. 6 boats started the course which took in Koh Larn, Koh Krok, Koh Sak and Koh Chun. 3 hardy teams managed to complete the course with the lead boat finishing in almost exactly 3 hours. It was neck and neck between Saranya and Stefaan as they came through the gate off the club for the final leg up to and back from Koh Chun. However Saranya with Roch crewing managed to gain an advantage by coming inshore out of the tide, and they finished first ahead of Stefaan crewed by Tom, and then Yves crewed by Cedric.

25 December - Winter Series - Final
by Chris Dando

Saturday was the last round of the Winter Series and the Lasers turned out for some excellent racing in a medium wind. Three races were completed on Christmas Day, but Chris was in no mood to give out any presents! With 3 good starts and using the extra power of the standard rig, he led all 3 races home. Charlie finished second but with some close racing between Hans, Sato and Cees who were never very far apart. Overall Chris just managed to sneak a win in the series even though tied on points with Charlie. Hans showed the value of consistency by coming third overall.

18 & 19 December - Winter Series - Part 3
by Chris Dando

Winter is definitely here! While Europe is in the midst of a big freeze, we also had to suffer the fact that temperatures on Saturday struggled to get above 32 deg C and even dropped to 18 deg C overnight. However we were compensated by the excellent winds and great sailing conditions over the weekend with a good 14-16 knots on Saturday followed by slightly lighter conditions on Sunday.
The Lasers completed 2 races on both days. Gareth revelled in the conditions on Saturday with 2 wins, but actually was beaten (just!) by Chris in the first race on Sunday. The final race on Sunday had both Kevin and Chris caught for early starting. Both returned and then spent the entire race in a hard fought match race leaving little chance to chase Gareth home. Eventually this was decided when Kevin felt the need to inspect his bailer from under the boat. Charlie rounded off a great day's Laser sailing by winning the Genesis Skin Klinic voucher in the draw after the racing!

There was much activity in the boat park amongst the catamarans over the weekend with 2 new F18's being put together. However neither made the start line for the races but it looks like the fleet is expanding! 2 races were sailed on the Saturday with Jean-Philippe dominating in both ahead of Andy and then Alex. With the excellent sailing on offer on Sunday, the fleet completed 3 races. Stefan returned to win 2 races with Alex getting the beast in full flight to win the other.

10, 11 & 12 December - Winter Series - Part 2
by Chris Dando

Another long weekend with some excellent sailing conditions. The winds were from the South West which is slightly unusual for this time of year. However the breeze filled in on all 3 days to allow racing at the scheduled times. With wind against tide the waves were at times confused adding to the challenge.
The Lasers raced all 3 days with 3 races on Saturday to test everyone's endurance. Chris used the advantage of the standard rig and better power to weight ratio to get through the tricky waves best, followed home by Charlie and Hans. However only seconds separated 1st and 2nd on Friday and a demonstration of how not to start gave Chris a hard sail to take the lead on Monday!
Friday saw the catamarans cruising to various parts. On Saturday and Sunday races were held with a good entry and several different faces on board the boats. With the tide helping unwind and hindering downwind, the benefit was to the boats with spinnakers. Andy in his F18 Tiger consistently showed good speed in the conditions, but Alex in his F20 carbon remained a threat especially as he was sailing at 'half' throttle', and together with Patrice in his Tiger, shared the job of chasing Andy on corrected time.

4, 5 & 6 December - Winter Series - Part - 1
by Christopher Dando

3 days of round the buoys racing was scheduled to start the Winter Series. However the wind only co-operated for Saturday and Sunday, Monday arriving with an overcast sky, rain and no wind!
On Saturday, 2 races were held for both Catamaran and Laser. The breeze was good and Gary Baguley in his new Hobie Wildcat dominated the catamaran fleet while Charlie Zbinden did equally well with his Laser Radial.
On Sunday, the first race was sailed in lighter conditions. The wind then licked in to give some exiting sailing for the remainder of the day. The wind also seemed to cause a couple of problems for the F18's as 2 boats had to put ashore for new sails and adding a dent to the bank balance of the owners! The catamarans sailed 3 races in total and despite the appearance of Alex Skaria in his F20, Gary continued to score consistant first places. The Laser had 2 races and showed 2 new winners in Gareth Owen and Aaron Frankel, Charlie chasing each home respectively to gain two seconds.
Despite a long postponement, the wind failed to fill in on Monday and the racing was cancelled.

27& 28 November - Laser District Regatta
by Christopher Dando

Another weekend of great sailing conditions! On both days we started the racing with a good breeze but, as often happens at Varuna, the wind got stronger until we had some fairly windy and rough sailing. The beats in particular were a test of resolve to battle upwind against the tide!
Even though we didn't have as many sailors as we had hoped, the competition as usual in the Laser fleet was very close - not just amongst the leaders, but also further down in the fleet where place changing was frequent. Overall we had 3 different race winners in 7 hard fought races.
The overall winner was Gareth - sneaking home for the second weekend in a row on countback. The 2 Sattahip sailors, Khun Natthawut and Khun Supakorn, who with their radial rigs, revelled in the stronger winds, closely followed him home in second and third.
Many thanks to our great race team who again set some challenging courses and who had to endure the rough seas on the committee boat!

20 & 21 November - Tara Court Varuna Cup
by Christopher Dando

With the great support for all the classes it was a busy weekend at the club! Saturday had all the classes, Optimist, Laser, and Catamaran (including 2 Trimarans from OMYC), sailing round the buoys off the club in almost ideal conditions. Our race team on the committee boat did a fantastic job to get 4 races in for all 3 classes. The racing was extremely tight in all fleets with several different race winners. Unfortunately the wind just gave up at the end of the 4th race with some boats struggling to make it across the finish line.
Sunday was a day for the light weather experts, or, as someone said, a day for brains not brawn. The fleet was joined by 3 keelboats from Ocean Marina who together with the big multihulls dwarfed the Optimists while they were waiting for their start. The keelboats and multihulls set off first on a long distance race. The Lasers and Optimists enjoyed more races around the buoys.
We owe a big thank you to Tara Court for their sponsorship of the event!

6 & 7 November - Commodore Cup
by Christopher Dando

The winter wind seems to have arrived with gusto (or at least quite a few heavy gusts!). Saturday's racing for the majority of the competitors was more a question of managing to survive. The evening saw the catamaran fleet repairing foils and tillers, while the Laser fleet compared aching muscles and just how much they were scared downwind. On Sunday the wind eased slightly to provide absolutely ideal sailing for all. Great courses and some great racing all weekend!
It really was a Commodores' Cup, with the Commodore himself dominating the Laser fleet on Saturday despite 3 capsizes. The Vice Commodore was also determined to get in on the act. As he couldn't emulate the race results, he tried the comedy high wire trapeze circus act. Later he did remark that there were an awful lot of things to hit on an F18 before you finally come to a rest. Still it was a great excuse to get ashore early and spend the rest of the afternoon admiring the scenery at Bangkok Pattaya hospital.

17, 18, 23 & 24 October - Autumn Series Final
by Richard van den Heuvel

Both weekends the wind was very unreliable (typical for October) and made race management as well as sailing difficult. Still, most scheduled races were sailed, although mainly by the Lasers. For the catamarans it was more difficult and several times there was insufficient wind. The final results however did not change very much from before, only in the Lasers Chris managed to get to third place instead of Tezuki. The conclusion is as follows.

3 & 4 October - Autumn Series part 5
by Richard van den Heuvel

This week the number of participants were a lot lower than during the Oktoberfest Regatta, more like the normal number during the series races. Saturday the start had to be delayed due to rain, but then the two scheduled races could be sailed. Sunday start was on time and the sailors had reasonable wind , but dark clouds were forming both to the North and the South. The wind suddenly changed from North to South, but the rain diverted further West and the races could be finished without problems. It appears however that some cats did not trust the elements and finished early, thus being rewarded with a dnf. Results after 20 races are:

25.& 26 September - Oktoberfest Regatta 2010
by Richard van den Heuvel

The first day, Saturday, both the Monohulls and Multihulls came on the water in larger than usual numbers. There were 13 Lasers and 11 Catamarans to join the regatta. Unfortunately (or may be fortunately for the not so strong sailors) our wind guru Varuna is in her down period and misses the strength she usually displays. Still, our Race Officers managed to put in two races each day and the result of the sailing is as follows:

11 & 12 September - Autumn Series 2010.- Results Part 4.
by Richard van den Heuvel

This weekend we saw a lot more sailors on the water and joining the races. The wind was moderate, sufficient for sailing without mishaps. On Sunday 9 cats and 7 Lasers joined the series, the largest fleet so far. Each day 2 races were sailed back-to-back and the results after 16 races (but 14 for each fleet) are as follows.

4 & 5 September - Autumn Series 2010.- Results Part 3.
by Richard van den Heuvel

Last weekend the Race Officers Race on Saturday had sailors, but was interrupted by a fierce storm, inundating the club house, scattering the sailors and thus abandoning the race. On Sunday the wind was good, but there no sailors. The past weekend there was moderate wind, there were sailors, so both days the scheduled races were sailed. Nothing particular happened and the results after 12 races are now as follows:

21 & 22 August - Autumn Series 2010.- Results Part 2.
by Richard van den Heuvel

This weekend we had a similar wind pattern to last week, light wind on Saturday and better wind on Sunday. Saturday was dull and it looked like going to rain any moment, but it stayed dry. Sunday there was some sunshine and more power in the sails. The number of sailors is still very low, 3 for the monohulls and 5 for the multihulls. I wonder if next week's Race Officers Regatta will attract some more sailors. Results after 8 races are as follows:

14 & 15 August - Autumn Series 2010.- Results Part 1.
by Richard van den Heuvel

The wind on Saturday was just enough for the Lasers to keep moving around the cans and complete 2 races. The few cat sailors who turned up, decided to stay ashore. On Sunday the wind had returned to normal and both Lasers and catamarans sailed 2 races around the buoys. The results of the first 4 races are as follows:

17 & 18 July - Summer Series 2010.- 3rd Part
by Richard van den Heuvel

Moderate wind for both days made some good sailing for the few who came. No accidents, but on Saturday a dispute at rounding a mark. Two boats within 3 boatlengths of the mark, one not giving room, so the other ended up at the wrong side. The other contesting it. On Sunday a large group of boats came at the start line in the first race, but only a few of them were actually racing. The racers were not pleased. This should not be done in future. 26 & 27 June - Summer Series 2010.- 2nd Part
by Richard van den Heuvel

This weekend the wind was a bit better than last week. On Saturday reasonable wind, on Sunday slightly less, but still sufficient for sailing without need for towing back. There were 6 cats and 5 Lasers on the water, not bad for this time of the year. The results after 8 races are as follows:

19 & 20 June - Summer Series 2010.- 1st Part
by Richard van den Heuvel

Both days of this weekend there was sufficient wind for racing. Saturday was dull, Sunday brilliant sunshine. Both days the wind gave up in the course of the afternoon. On Sunday rather early, so the last three cats could not finish their race and had to be towed back to the club. The number of sailors was quite good for the cats, could be better in the laser class.
